You know you’re heading towards Malawi when you can see Kilimanjaro out the left hand window.
I’m travelling with Dr Charles Howie, our Technical Adviser, and we’re looking forward to getting to grips with polytunnels; lots of irrigation pumps; and trying to work out how to provide chilled tomato storage in a hot country with poor electricity! Add to that some staff training and developing an Environmental Policy and you can see that we won’t be bored.
The journey is Glasgow – Amsterdam – Nairobi – Lilongwe then a five hour drive North to our office in Mzuzu. At least that’s been the habit – but this time we’ve headed south from Linlogwe to the town of Dedza. We’ll be in the Southern Region till Tuesday for a series of meetings and visits to farms and projects where we hope we will learn a great deal to help develop Malawi Fruit’s work in the North.
Looking forward to it – and there’s lots more news to follow on here.
