Every picture tells a story

It’s great to be back in Malawi and I’m looking forward to visiting our projects – look out for regular updates over the next two weeks.

I’m travelling with Graeme Clark who has more camera equipment than a branch of Jessops (do they still exist?) and we’re looking forward to getting professional photographs of all our work and some great shots of Malawi itself.

We arrived on Thursday and spent yesterday catching up with our staff here and meeting a couple of our key contacts.  Today was a visit to Nhkata Bay where there is an innovative organisation called Kuwala who provide solar lighting systems here in Malawi and we hope to partner with them to bring the distribution of solar lights and our solar irrigation pumps together.  It’s early days but we had a very positive meeting today.

Just before we left Scotland we had great news that we are to receive support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to fund our solar irrigation work. This is a huge encouragement but will also influence my agenda over the next two weeks with visits needed  to the UNDP offices (250 miles away) and some negotiations with partners on that project.  It’s all very exciting and makes for another busy time here in Malawi.  More to come….
